Join us for a free music-filled afternoon with international performing and recording artist Celil Refik Kaya. This performance will feature the works of Jorge Morel and Carlo Domeniconi. Celil is originally from Turkey, and this program would represent cross cultural influence in music. Celil is a stunning talent, current DMA student at UT who recently spent a year away as a Harvard Fellow. He also recently gave a Carnegie Hall debut.
This event is hosted in collaboration with Austin Classical Guitar and will take place in our auditorium.
Beat the Rush is a performance series that features live music inspired by visual art on view.
Museum admission is always free on Thursdays. On the third Thursday of each month, the museum remains open until 9 pm.
The Blanton is located at the intersection of Congress Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Paid parking is available in the Blanton/Brazos Garage on Brazos Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Parking is $4; bring your ticket with you to the front desk of the museum.
ABOUT CELIL REFIK KAYA
International recording and performing artist Celil Refik Kaya is one of two three-time prizewinners of the Guitar Foundation of America International Guitar Competition, the youngest First Prize Winner of the JoAnn Falletta International Guitar Concerto Competition, and is a recording artist with Naxos Record label. Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra conductor JoAnn Falletta commends Mr. Kaya as “a superb musician in every sense”. American Record Guide has called his performances “just perfect”, and numerous critiques from around the world applaud Mr. Kaya’s playing as being “seemingly effortless”.
